Welcome back to our champagne loving tribe! We hope you are excited for the long weekend! Be sure to wear those stretchy leggings to leave lots of room for stuffing, we will look the other way when you go for that extra scoop!
We hope you’ve been following along our First Dance Friday journey and are loving it as much as love sharing it with you. If you aren’t caught up, you should probably do that because it’s pretty great! First Dance Friday is a weekly suggestion of songs for you to use for your wedding day that you aren’t going to find on every other blog. We love hearing your suggestions and feedback, so leave us a quick message in the comments of a suggestion that you have, or one of ours that you loved!
For this week we are featuring our girl Riri! It’s about time right? What were we thinking waiting this long? And the song we chose? No, it’s not Work unfortunately, but you better believe we are listening to it anyway! Instead,we chose is Love on the Brain.
Love on the Brain is a single from Rihanna’s eight album Anti. This song is a soulful declaration of love that is powerful and raw.
If you haven’t heard it, take a listen here and follow along with us.
Baby you got me like ahh. Don’t stop loving me, don’t quit loving me (0:48)
You have just said your vows and officially became a married couple. All you need now is to keep loving each other and dance the night away together surrounded by your closest family and friends. You promised to love each other in good times and bad, love is all you need! Rihanna’s voice is so raw and emotional here, it really captures the essence of the song and feeling completely in love.
No matter what I do, I’m no good without you, And I can’t get enough, must be love on the brain (1:48)
Maybe you fell for your boo because you are exactly the same, or maybe you are totally opposite, but whichever it is, you are better together. You can spend all day together, but it never feels like enough. Your love is all encompassing, and you wouldn’t have it any other way.
Then you keep loving me, just love me, all you need to do is love me (2:02)
You love each other more than anything, and that is what is most important. All you need from each other is to continue to love each other more and more each day. Your love is strong and has brought you here together today, dancing together under this spotlight on the dance floor, and it will take you everywhere else you go in life. No matter what life throws at you, as long as you have the love and support of each other, you will make it through together.
Wedding songs don’t have to be classical or country songs. Every person is different, which makes every wedding different. Don’t choose a first dance song that you think you are supposed to pick, pick a song that means something to you and your future husband or wife, and that is true to your relationship. Did Rihanna play in the car on your first date? Did you go to a Rihanna concert together? Unconventional songs can make your wedding even more meaningful because it is authentic for you.
We hope you liked our pick for this week, and even if you aren’t going to use this song for your first dance, we hope you followed along and listened to the song anyway. As always leave us your feedback or suggestions for future first dance fridays in the comments. See you next week and Happy Thanksgiving!
